Germany's Tallest Residential Building Celebrates Topping-Out Ceremony

Grand Tower – Frankfurt am Main
  • Frankfurt am Main, September 21st 2018

Interior work on the Grand Tower has begun

The Grand Tower plugs one of the last remaining gaps at the entrance to Frankfurt's Europaviertel (European quarter). Today was a day for those who have bought apartments in the building to celebrate alongside the people involved in the construction process at the topping-out ceremony for the skyscraper.

Standing 172 meters tall, the Grand Tower is set to be the highest residential building in Germany and is currently being completed in various floor-by-floor stages. While the breeze is still drifting through the bare shell of the upper floors, parquet flooring is being laid in the apartments lower down. September 4, 2018, marked the end of the concrete work to complete the building shell.

In Jürgen Blankenberg's address as managing director of project developer gsp Staedtebau, he said "the award-winning Grand Tower is like the final link in the chain between the new Europaviertel and the thriving city of Frankfurt. In its capacity as a prelude to the city center or the Europaviertel, the Grand Tower emerges from the Frankfurt skyline as a building with real landmark potential." Blankenberg went on to thank the builders, the management, the local community and the various service providers for their contributions. He also made special reference to the people who had bought apartments within the building, hailing from 30 different countries around the world. "These people have believed in the Frankfurt site and the Grand Tower right from the start and have placed their trust in us by investing in this project."

The address of the Grand Tower will be "Europa-Allee 2", situated diagonally across from Frankfurt's Gueterplatz, facing Skyline Plaza on the opposite side. There will be an entrance to the extended U5 subway (U-Bahn) line, which is still under construction, located directly in front of the building.
